There is lots of drama in the world of internet flight plan applications. FlightPrep has recently starting enforcing a patent for its version of online flight planning. That enforcement has caused at least one web site to shut down. However, other organizations offering online flight planning services like Jeppesen's AOPA service and now FltPlan.com are announcing that their services do not infringe on the FlightPrep patent. Jim Sweeney talks about the requirements out there for CFI's to make sure that their students are US citizens and -if not- what kinds of hoops have to be jumped through before beginning training.
