EAA's 2011 Report to Homebuilders was published a little over a week ago and there are some interesting facts that came out of it. Sean Elliot joins us to talk about the good news that the number of registered Amateur-Built Experimental aircraft have increased as have the numbers of hours flown in those aircraft. Better yet, the accident and fatal-accident rates in these aircraft have improved more than in any other segment in the U.S. Aviation fleet.

One of the meetings that Jim Sweeney attended while in Sebring was hosted by the FAA and its purpose was to achieve one of the FAA Administrator's goals, the reduction of fatalities in amateur-built aircraft. Several ideas were discussed including getting aviation organizations and insurance companies more involved. However, preventing fatalities was an area where a better LODA procedure could be instrumental for all sorts of experimental aircraft.
